Yes, the time of this post is correct. It is 4:30 AM. So there is only one hour left for the debut of Cuba vs Dominican Republic between the six teams of Group B (they will play in Asia) in this third edition of the Premier12 baseball.
First of all, I didn't want to overlook my message of thanks and that of my wife Ruth for so many messages of concern. Many of you, dear readers, have become our inspiration for a long time. Thank God, we were fine during the passage of Hurricane Rafael. But we are very sad, since many people are going through difficult times and were brutally affected.
These have been difficult days without water, without electricity and, for many, without hope... When I think about all this, I remember my maternal grandmother. She always said that it is a blessing to see the sun rise. She said it to mean that it is a blessing to see the light of another new day. It is devastating that the light of a new day is not so colorful for everyone.
I hadn't written anything in November, at least about baseball. I have read a lot these days. But before Hurricane Rafael came crashing through, I was eager to cover the Premier12. That's what I've done since day one. Normally, I thought I'd cover only the Cuba games. Then I got excited, and I wanted to write every day. I couldn't especially in the last few days because of personal commitments, but here we are again. I'll bring you my view in a few columns that I'm sure you'll enjoy.
Now comes the Cuba game and, for a Cuban who loves baseball, that's something almost sacred. It's a shame that many won't be able to see the game because of all the damage there is.
In fact, I hope I'm lucky. I'll let you know. We'll see what happens.
