Blanco reached 28 stolen bases last night in the Royals' 5-0 win over the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Yeah, well, 28 stolen bases doesn't seem like that big of a number, so you have to hear this: Blanco has started in just 33 of his 81 games this year. So, basically, he's stolen 28 bases while being a substitute player in 60% of his games. I think this stat explains it much better: Blanco has stolen bases in 13 games in which he didn't even record a plate appearance.
There hasn't been another Royal in history with those numbers.
