You and I, dear reader, can almost certainly agree that most walks are some of the most boring actions in baseball. For a sport that continues to be constantly criticized for its pace, the less walking there is, the better baseball will continue to be.*
*Of course, I said “most hikes” above, because there are hikes that really aren't a waste. I love seeing pitchers battling in a great at-bat against great stars of the current game like Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, or Cuban Yordan Álvarez, to name a few examples. So a walk can also be fun, and make us maintain expectations until ball number four.
