Well, here's what I asked myself after Shohei Ohtani hit a 440-foot blast off Marlins infielder Vidal Bruján: Does he still have time to become the club's first hitter to go 55/55 (homers and stolen bases)?
Ohtani went 6-for-6 with two doubles, three homers, stole two bases, scored four times and drove in half of the Dodgers' runs in Thursday's 20-4 win over the Marlins. What a game! The Marlins pitchers didn't know what to throw anymore. Ohtani crushed every pitch. I wouldn't have been surprised if the Marlins had intentionally walked Ohtani in the top of the ninth, when he came up to the plate for the sixth time in the game.
The single in the top of the second inning was Shohei's smallest hit, a 97 mph blast. And then it looked like he didn't want to be on first. I feel like often for Ohtani, reaching an extra base is often as important as another day in the game.
