Sandy, I think you should do more with this story of how many women are now doing primary coverage of so many of these National Series teams! That is really amazing. What kind of training did they have? Did they face discrimination at first, as they took the jobs that were probably long held by men? How have the players reacted and treated them? Tell us more about who these women are, and what else they may cover, or what other writing they do. Wow, this is really surprising to me, how many women they are, and it speaks well for Cuban baseball that these positions covering the teams have been opened to them!

Sandy, how many women journalists are there who are regularly covering the National Series? Have there been more of them in recent years than there were earlier? Your profile here of the late Darilys Reyes Sánchez is beautifully done. She was obviously a real "pro," one who could mix well the important duties of sportswriter, wife and mother. I wish I had known her!

There really have been a lot of them in the last few, let's say, the last five seasons. But Elsa Ramos, who basically covers the Sancti Spíritus Roosters, my friend Darilys Reyes, who covered the Cienfuegos Elephants, Yuliet Pérez (known as Yuliet PC) around the Isla de la Juventud Pirates, Gretel Yanet Tamayo, a reliable source on Las Tunas Lumberjacks news, and Maily Estevez, one of my favorite writers, who used to cover the Villa Clara Leopardos (for the entire past decade), have been the most popular for their consistency and passion -- although there have been others who have also been great at their job.

Actually, in terms of baseball coverage year by year, Darilys (unfortunately deceased) and Maily (a few years ago she no longer covered baseball in the Vanguardia.cu newspaper in the province of Villa Clara) were my favorite chroniclers.

And, yes, definitely for the past decade or so, there have been many talented women covering baseball with an authoritative voice, bringing a lot of excitement to local newspapers and various provincial websites.
